Matillion Venture Partnersbrienventurebeat

Matillion is one of the first venture funds to invest in blockchain technology. It raised $35 million less than two years ago. That would suggest a $10 billion market. With this recent round of investment, Matillion is well-positioned to expand its business even further. Its current valuation is $1.4 billion.

Lightspeed Venture Partners

Lightspeed Venture Partners is a global venture capital firm that focuses on investments in the enterprise, consumer, and health sectors. The firm makes investments in seed, early, and growth-stage companies. It has a portfolio that includes Snap, GIPHY, and GrubHub.

The company has raised a $100 million Series D round led by Lightspeed Venture Partners. It also attracted participation from Sapphire Ventures, Scale Venture Partners, and Silicon Valley Bank UK Branch. This investment will fuel Matillion’s growth and help it meet the growing demand for cloud data integration.

Matillion is a software company focusing on artificial intelligence. Founded in Manchester, the company also has a base in Denver. The company has hundreds of enterprise customers, including companies like Cisco, National Grid, Peet’s Coffee, and Western Union. Its applications span business intelligence, data visualization, and machine learning. Matillion has raised more than $100 million in venture capital from investors like Lightspeed Venture Partners.

The company aims to deliver easy-to-use, cloud-native data integration. This makes it possible to generate rapid returns on cloud investments and allows global enterprise customers to fully leverage their data. The company has built its platform to be user-friendly, with native integrations for cloud data platforms like Google BigQuery and Microsoft Azure Synapse.

Databricks is a cloud data management platform for enterprises. Its data pipelines make it easy to prepare data for analytics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence. The data pipelines are built quickly and can connect to virtually any data source. Users can build data pipelines in minutes and access the data they need from anywhere.

The company’s ETL platform is built for cloud-based database platforms with a modern, browser-based user interface and powerful push-down ETL/ELT functionality. Matillion is compatible with Databricks and its new feature, Matillion Connect, makes it easy to connect workspaces with Matillion. Existing Matillion users can connect manually to Databricks using the Matillion Connect application.

Amazon Redshift

Matillion, an Amazon Redshift partner, connects to any data source and builds data pipelines to ingest data into Amazon Redshift. It offers a large collection of pre-built connectors and free connectors that users can create. It also offers a simple ETL tool that transforms raw data in Amazon Redshift into analytics-ready data. Users can also customize connectors to fit their specific needs.

Matillion recently announced a $150 million Series E round. The funding was led by General Atlantic, a leading global growth equity firm. The company also secured participation from Battery Ventures, Sapphire Ventures, Scale Venture Partners, and Lightspeed Venture Partners. Its valuation is now at $1.5 billion.

To use Matillion Data Loader with Amazon Redshift, users must have an active AWS account with SELECT privileges (a set of privileges that allow them to create and grant users). To access the Amazon Redshift database, you must whitelist the Matillion IP address for your region.

Microsoft Azure Synapse

If you want to run reports in Microsoft Azure Synapse, you will need to set up a data source. Microsoft Azure Synapse is a big data analytics tool that offers a large performance boost for massive datasets. You can access the data source in the Analyze menu, or create a new one. Once you’ve created your data source, you can customize the name and location of it.

Microsoft Azure Synapse is an application for data scientists and business analysts. It uses the workspace concept to enable development in the Spark language, while offering low-code tools for data engineers. The company showcased how the same data transformation task could be developed using both paths, and it also has the Azure SQL Data Warehouse capability.

Microsoft Azure Synapse allows you to collect and analyze data from disparate sources and reduce the time it takes to create insightful reports. This cloud-based platform is also compatible with Power BI and Azure Machine Learning. With this, you can get insights from your data in less time than ever. Azure Synapse also helps you create scalable data warehouses.

The software includes a web-based application called Azure Synapse Studio, which allows developers to interact with all aspects of Synapse Analytics. Its integrated orchestration engine enables you to integrate multiple data sources with ease. The UI has features for exploration, data visualization, and data analysis. Users can also author artifacts, debug code, optimize performance, and integrate with CI/CD tools.

Microsoft Azure Synapse SQL Pools provide data warehousing capabilities. The system has the ability to import data from multiple sources, and supports distributed querying. Data streaming capabilities are also built-in to SQL Pools, which is a great feature for data warehouse applications. This service offers a low-cost data warehouse with no infrastructure costs.

While the market for cloud data integration has become competitive, Matillion believes it has an advantage because its solution was built for the cloud-native era from the ground up. That could be critical as overall cloud adoption continues to accelerate.

“In the post-COVID world, any remaining reticence that companies have to move to the cloud has now been removed,” Matillion CEO Matthew Scullion told VentureBeat. “And companies of any scale and across all industries are now accelerating their migrations to the cloud, and that’s driving new innovations in the cloud.”

In addition to Snowflake, Matillion has become a key solution for customers using Delta Lake on Databricks, Amazon Redshift, Google BigQuery, and Microsoft Azure Synapse. As such, Matillion has attracted more than 500 major clients, including Cisco, Slack, DocuSign, Siemens, and Accenture.

Though the company is based in Manchester in the U.K. and has customers in 40 countries, its biggest market has so far been the U.S. Matillion has about 260 employees and expects to grow to around 400 by the end of the year. Scullion believes Matillion has tapped into a massive market. He said studies suggest that for every $5 enterprises spend on data warehousing, they are spending $1 on ETL, which would imply a $10 billion market.
