You might not realise it, but your fridge is one of the hardest working appliances in your home. It’s constantly running, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. So it’s no surprise that eventually it’s going to need some TLC from a trained professional. But how can you tell when that time has come? Here are some warning signs that indicate your fridge is due for servicing.
1. Strange noises coming from the fridge
If you start to hear strange hissing, banging, or humming noises coming from your fridge, it’s time to call a qualified and experienced professional. These noises are usually indicative of an issue with the compressor or cooling fans and if left unaddressed, it can lead to more serious problems down the road.
2. Your food isn’t staying fresh as long as it used to
Perhaps you’ve noticed that your milk is expiring faster than usual or that your veggies are wilting quicker than normal. This could be caused by a number of issues, but most likely indicates a fridge not cooling, and therefore needs to be serviced/repaired.
3. Excessive condensation or frost build-up
Another sign that your fridge isn’t staying cold enough is if you notice excessive condensation on the inside walls or door, or if there’s frost build-up on the inside shelves or in the freezer compartment. If this is happening, open up your fridge and check to see if there’s ice build-up on the back wall near the coils. If so, it’s time for a service call.
4. Water leakage
And last but not least, if you start to notice water pooling on the floor in front of or underneath your fridge, this is definitely a cause for concern as it indicates a potential leak in either the water line connection or in the actual unit itself. Don’t hesitate to give us a call so we can take a look and resolve the issue before it causes any further damage.
